Hello Adobe Premiere Pro video Editors, you might be wondering why premiere pro is so slow all of a sudden on your PC. video playback lag can be a serious issue when you do not know how to fix it. so in this premiere pro tutorial i am going to show you why your premiere is lagging and how to fix it. Premiere Pro can lag for different reasons, including insufficient RAM or too many running background Programs. Additionally, inadequate storage space, heavy video effects or transitions, an outdated graphics card (GPU) and many more can contribute to lagging. So the first way to fix slow playback In Premiere is to upgrade your computer to meet premiere pro minimum system requirements. The second Playback Lag solution is to Change playback resolution, simply Reduce the video playback resolution to a lower resolution, such as 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, or 1/16 Next Use proxy videos in your workflow. Sometimes we are working with high resolution footages like 4k or 8k and this might be too heavy for our computer. Also Remember to turn off quality playback, you don't need to preview your workflow in high quality if speed is a concern. Next Mute Global FX, Muting Global effects will turn off all effects in your sequence temporarily To run Premiere Pro smoothly. Another way I fix laggy video playback is to Increase memory allowance dedicated to Premiere Pro cc, so dedicate a high portion of your system Ram to Adobe programs for fast playback. Another Effect way to make faster Premiere Pro playback is to delete old media cache files. Why is Premiere' PLAYBACK PERFORMANCE slow as fudge all of the sudden? Because it implemented a cool new feature that can actually be horrible on the wrong system (most systems?!?). Maybe they forgot to test with non-workstation GPUs or on low quality motherboards? If I knew for a fact that a non-cheap motherboard upgrade will make this work as intended - I think definitely yes. In this guide I will show you how to edit very smoothly 8K/4K or even normal videos in low-end devices by creating proxy files. This is also helpful for people with high-end gaming PCs who may struggle with 8K/4K footage specifically (only works in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder). Proxy files are temporary low-quality versions of the videos you have imported on your timeline. I've recently started make more 4K videos. The higher the resolution and more complicated the project, the higher chance of getting lags during playback. Therefore, until now I could play the playback at full resolution without any significant lag. In order to minimize lag and to make the preview video to run smoothly, you got to reduce the playback resolution from full to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, or 1/16. The lower the playback resolution, the more smoothly you could play the preview. But if you want to play the video in full resolution and check the high quality playback, then you got to render the whole sequence or a portion of the timeline. If you close the project and open it again, then the render will be lost and you'll have to render it again! Usually fixing the red areas of the timeline is enough for getting a smooth playback! Selecting "Render In to Out" will take longer time to render but it'll completely get rid of lagging. By upgrading your graphics card and making some other changes to your systems settings, you could further minimize lagging!
